Meeting with the Marwaris

The Marwari is a breed of horse originating from the Marvar region (Jodhpur in Rajasthan) in India. He is said to be descended from indigenous Indian ponies crossed with purebred Arabians, and perhaps Mongolian horses. The Rathores, traditional chiefs of the Marvar region, were the first to raise them from the 12th century. Breeding based on strict reproduction to promote purity and hardiness.
