According to legend, the deity Maa Durga rode a tiger when she went to fight her enemies. The big cat has become the symbol of victory over all negative forces. Also the tiger is considered as the link between men, the earth and the animal kingdom.

Since 1972 India has implemented the conservation project for this superb feline. Listed on the WWF list as an endangered animal. The world has less than 4000 specimens distributed in Asia. India remains the main country to have the chance to encounter this formidable predator.
